I found out about them last month at my internship. I had to edit a performance they did where they printed money with their own blood that was drawn live.

I’ve been watching and reading a lot about her lately. I just checked a book out of the library about a piece she did in 2007 at the Guggenheim. She remade 7 landmark performances such as Vito Acconci’s Seedbed and Chris Burden’s crucifixion.

Painting self with red paint and glitter (Winter Break)
Ingesting large amount of candy canes (Winter Break)

Walking in snow in underwear (December)
Applying a large amount of mascara (February 14)

To Shoot (Within the next 2 months)

Bury myself in dirt
Eat a pile of raw onions and vomit
Smashing a cow heart (and getting colonoscopy footage)

Process

1. Come up with a scenario, situation, image, idea, feeling, emotion
2. Formulate an action/performance to express the aforementioned items
3. Preparation/Incubation of ideas – think about best way to execute performance (lots and lots and lots of thinking and worrying)
4. Shoot video
5. Edit and interoperate – understand what these performances mean to me – what they truly mean – why I thought of doing these actions
6. The videos sit – I am currently unsure of how the videos will be presented (all edited together, separate, in related groups according to theme)
7. Think some more
